The EU Data Act mandates that manufacturers of connected products, such as smart luminaires and control gears, make product data and related service data accessible to users free of charge, securely, and in machine-readable formats. Data holders, often the manufacturers or service providers, must also enable users to share this data with third parties upon request, while protecting trade secrets and complying with GDPR for personal data.
