Guidance and Information Paper on The Use of Lighting Product Standards in Europe
LightingEurope is making publicly available a Guideline and Information paper on the use of standards (EN, harmonized EN, OJEU listed harmonized EN and non-EN standards) in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the European Free Trade Association, and the European Custom Union. The document also covers UK designated standards to be used in the United Kingdom.
Updated version June 2025
This updated version provides a thorough explanation on the implications for manufacturers when a new or amended standard is published and if the CEN/CENELEC date of withdrawal is not aligned with the date of withdrawal of the Official Journal of the EU or the UK Designated List. This mismatch can be confusing for manufacturers preparing their Declaration of Conformity. Our Guidance is aimed at supporting the industry navigating this uncertainty.
